301-Clearing the Air on Beauty, Weight Loss and Attraction

beauty weight lossWhenever physical appearance, particularly weight, is referred to as a major factor in attracting a man, there is inevitably a small but articulate negative reaction from women accusing the writer or speaker of perpetuating shallow, misogynistic ideas that reduce women to eye candy and ignore the important attributes of self-confidence and being comfortable with yourself.

I totally understand this reaction and agree that it’s shallow, superficial, and just plain unfair for men to choose women to date primarily based on looks. But here’s the rub: it’s the truth. The media, be it in Hollywood or Madison Avenue, has trained men to determine attraction based on specific female physical characteristics and associate beauty with women who represent the perfection of those characteristics. These are the same women that grace the covers of almost all of the men’s and women’s magazines, who star in the most popular (and not so popular) movies, TV shows, and commercials. There’s a reason why this is the case: because that’s what men (and I guess women) want to look at. Society is attracted to this image of beauty. I don’t think there’s any scientific reasoning behind this. A hundred years ago the leading ladies looked different, more full figured. Those days are long gone, at least for the time being.

Women today are faced with a choice: fit into the current societal definition of attractive or blow it off and do your own thing. I believe that if you want to have the best chance of attracting a man, you need to choose the first option. That doesn’t mean that if you do you’ll definitely meet your Mr. Right and if you don’t you won’t. As my wife always reminds me, “every pot has its cover.” Hopefully your Mr. Right will look past the superficial and see your true, inner beauty regardless of how much you weigh or how you look on a date. But if you want to increase your odds and your chances of dating success, you cannot ignore the way you look in the eyes of the men you’re hoping to attract.

Part of my mission to help you meet, date and marry your Mr. Right is to help you look your best so that you can stack the odds of success in your favor. That’s why I partnered with Danielle Pashko, a woman who understands beauty, fashion, nutrition, and fitness, to help guide you on a path to look better and feel better. Her latest video is on weight loss. It doesn’t imply that if you aren’t a certain weight you will be alone for the rest of your life. We just want to give you the tools and knowledge to look your best, if that’s the path you choose. When you’re happy with the way you look you’ll feel more confident and positive about yourself, and that will come across to the men you meet in a big way.
